About Bumfords
Bumfords is a family-run business in Hoyland, Barnsley, providing domestic air-conditioning design, installation, maintenance and repairs across South Yorkshire. It plans systems for bedrooms, living spaces and home offices, assessing room requirements, equipment positions, controls and drainage.
Chris Bumford founded the business in Sheffield in 1968, and the second and third generations of the family are now involved. The Hoyland premises are an operational office and warehouse, with no public showroom. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm; visits require prior arrangement.
Domestic enquiries start with the postcode, room sizes, comfort requirements and photographs. Survey work assesses capacity, positions, pipe routes, power, drainage, controls and appearance. Photographs and measurements may support an initial estimate, but a survey may be required before a firm specification and quotation.
Installation includes fitting, testing and commissioning, followed by an explanation of operation, filter care and future servicing. Associated electrical work or making good can be included or coordinated where agreed in the quotation. Servicing intervals depend on the equipment, environment, usage and manufacturer guidance.
Worcester Bosch is a preferred starting point for many air-conditioning installations, with other listed manufacturers considered where better suited to the application. Bumfords’ formal Worcester Bosch accreditation applies to eligible boiler installations.
