Routine care between services
Check the manufacturer’s instructions for the filters fitted to your indoor unit. Some are washable and some need replacement. Follow the stated isolation and cleaning procedure, and let washable components dry as instructed before refitting.
Mitsubishi Electric’s homeowner filter guidance explains why regular filter care matters. Cleaning frequency depends on the system and conditions in the home; use the schedule for your own model. Keep access to the units clear so routine checks remain practical.
Agree what a professional service includes
Ask for a written service scope for the equipment you have. It should distinguish routine cleaning and inspection from fault diagnosis, replacement parts and any additional refrigerant work. Confirm whether the price covers all indoor and outdoor units.
Tell the engineer about changes since installation: unfamiliar sounds, leaks, error codes or weaker performance. Ask for a service record showing the checks made, findings and any recommended work. Keep it with your warranty documents.
- How many indoor and outdoor units are included?
- Are filters, coils, drains and any condensate pump covered by the visit?
- Will controls and operating performance be checked?
- Are consumables, parking or difficult-access charges extra?
- What happens if the engineer finds a fault requiring another visit?
Prepare a useful repair enquiry
Note the model number, error message and when the issue occurs. Describe whether it affects one room or the whole system. A photo of a display or visible leak can help the engineer prepare. Do not open refrigerant connections or remove electrical covers.
If there is smoke, burning smell or an electrical concern, switch the system off if you can do so safely and contact a suitable engineer. For normal performance questions, check the user instructions and control settings before arranging a visit.
Plan the next visit at handover
Ask your installer when the next professional service is due and what the warranty requires. Put the date in your calendar and record the service contact. A clear maintenance plan also makes it easier to compare long-term costs when choosing an installation quote.
